Published Date: 16 June 2009
THE shortlist for Yorkshire's Biz Awards 2009 has been announced.
Leeds city centre vintage clothes shop Upstaged has been nominated for Best New Start and training and development company People Matters of Holbeck is nominated for Enterprise in the Community.
The awards, in their third year, recognise enterprises that have triumphed over adversity.
Owner of Upstaged, Lorna Jasper, said: "Starting a new business has been a real learning curve for me having faced funding problems and taken the plunge to go it alone.
"If it wasn't for my persistence and the support of Bradford's Business Enterprise Fund (BEF) and other support organisations I wouldn't be where I am today."
Other categories include Fastest Growing Business, Enterprise through Innovation, Contribution of the Community and Business of the Year.
The awards take place on June 26 at the Royal Armouries starting at 6.45pm. Tickets cost £40. For more information or to buy tickets visit www.thebizawards.co.uk or call Heather George on 01274 206660.
